How to get ahead in MLM? Learn from the best!
I've just got back from Tom 'big al' Schreiter's training workshop in London. It only cost me a tenner to go in but I left with more riches than I could have imagined. I am still buzzing from all the information I learnt along with a room full of people all from different MLM companies. All Leaders.
He began with a short intro on how he had troubles for his first year and 10 months and the kind of advice he got from his upline...
"What do I say at the presentations?" he asked...
"Just be yourself...." says the sponsor
"I'm not getting anywhere..."
"go and set some goals...."
and more that I can't remember but each one was acted out and performed to the room. It was hilarious! He had captured us all within the first minute of talking to us and revealing there is more to advice than just the words.
He said there are three types of people you will sponsor in this business..
- Those that join and go home and watch TV
- Those that join, try it and do it trial and error
- Those that join and study the business, they read the books, go to the conferences and become a student of success
These are the leaders.
Why they say "No"...
After finding that noone in the room could speak Portugese, he asked us how we would get someone to come to a presentation if we was in the middle of Portugal... Whatever we said, they wouldn't understand. they wouldn't come. It wasn't personal, it wasn't because they didn't like us. It was because we didn't have the skills to speak Portugese.
When we make a presentation or enthuse about our business, we are talking about the reasons we think it is good, after getting us to look left and right we all admitted that everyone is different, everyone listens differently, everyone thinks differently. Maybe that's why everyone doesn't join up straight away? lol. it made sense, I wish I could remember the anecdotes and references to why certain colours react differently and how they related to what he was saying. It's all in my head but every time I try to type it, it disappears!

Learn to speak the 4 secret languages
Tom went on in great detail on how to spot the different colour types. Each colour described was a conference each to it's own, he has a great presence and was able to keep us all enraptured to what he was saying! He explained how Michael Dlouhy [link] is a blue and seeing as Tom is a green, if they went driving somewhere - Tom would drive and Michael would talk! :-)
During all this we had twice turned to someone to chat to them for 3 minutes and see if we could tell the partners colour. I turned to my right the first time and met Petra, she turned out to be blue... I could tell almost straight away, she had already been laughing hard at the funnies and she was very easy to get to talk about something, I only had to give her a verbal prod and off she would go chatting away about family, background, business, partner and more (all in 3 minutes LOL).
Afterwards, Tom asked for a volenteer and my hand went up. He asked me what I had found and I told him, he agreed with my reasons and opinion and I was rewarded with a CD. He asked others and they got CD's too.
The second time I talked to Margaret and she was definitely a yellow, I didn't even need to ask her anything. She'd already given me some paper from her book for me to take notes. she knew I had gone there on my own and made a point to make me feel welcome by introducing me to her partner and friend. YELLOW!!!
It was great fun and it made it clear in my mind how much fun prospecting can be, how the hard work of trying to close someone needn't be done! its great to get to know someone by studying the colors to success method [link] , you just want to find their colour (all these English and American spellings are getting me confused!)
We then all had a 15 minute break....I met Mike and his partner outside when I went for a smoke (booo I know!!) Nice couple, we talked for a few minutes on our different business and it turns out they live near me! small small world in MLM.
On returning we were all waiting for the golden information he had promised us before the break, a nice guy called Rob sat next to me, he asked if I needed a paper and something to lean on (yellow!!) and we all enjoyed the next session....

Magic Language
Those that know the colours will understand this bit more.
We dealt with what to say in a few words to turn around a person. The magic language that only needs a few words to bring them to your meeting.
My mind has the format and structure of the things he went over but here I'll have to do with snippets rather than exact word for word sentances..
Top left colour:
"would you like to help me?"
"I only need one more person to get a prize, it would be so nice if you could help me"
Top right colour:
"you gotta come, it'll be so exciting, there will be a load of new people there to meet and talk to"
"It'll be great, we're gonna talk about lots"
"about the travel opportunities"
Bottom right colour:
"there's a meeting tonight about the massive earnings of some new members"
"people are being able to fire their boss and not take orders from anyone now"
"there are always competitions to win trophies for top recruiters, they get up on stage and receive them"
Bottom left colour:
"come to the meeting and tell me your opinion"
"here's a pack containing the links to the different sites that explain the different parts of the business"

Motivation
How to motivate the different colours in your team, why one person will love a cruise and how another would like a weekend at a spa.
Lovely stuff, what to give people based on their colour, how to phrase the same thing but have it heard differently by all.
ker-ching! was all I could hear after this section. :-)
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Who do you get to talk at your meetings?
Oh get the yellow to talk about the products, everyone loves a yellow!
if you must use the blue, take him aside and tell him he's got 30 seconds to speak and get him to rehearse it with you first! lol
Reds? get them to talk about the compensation plan (we thought greens would be best but they'd send everyone to sleep!) reds are more organised.
Who talks about travel? blues? hell, no! Get the reds again.
what about the greens? what do they talk about? ...NOTHING "here's a stack of info" :-D
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Homework
Find 1 person a day who you don't know and talk to them for 3 minutes and find out what colour they are.

That's it!
There was much much more but I'm a blue so even though I love to tell you the story, I'm already thinking about what's for dinner and when the movie will start on BBC2.
