Oh dear, it looks like I have given up mentoring considering how long it has taken me to post another entry here but I haven't!! I have in fact, been mentoring so much that I haven't had much time to do anything else.
I do a lot of forum posting and email motivating too and now I seem to be getting at least one call a week from a lost affiliate looking for help so I try to do what I can and point them in the right direction or perhaps sign them up myself!
The more I do this business, the more I realize it has very little to do with online skills, ezine advertising, blogging, opt-in lists and whatever "pay money for this service" happens to be about. It has EVERYTHING to do with people, folk like you and me - people join people. They might respond to a promotional email but guess what? if you don't contact them and speak to them like a human being then all they'll do is what got them to join. They'll email and email and suddenly get completely lost and disappointed.
Big Al goes on about it, he says what attracted him was the firing his boss speech so he used that on everyone and found it to be very frustrating. Everyone is different so everyone will have different hooks. For some it will be the more time with their loved ones, for others it will be more having more money than their loved ones! and others it could be taking charge of their life again.
So make sure you do many things on many days, try all types of promotion so you know how to do it and you'll learn how others get interested, but don't forget the absolute best way to get people in your team.....
talk to them!!
What I tell to prospects for my elottery business doesn't take longer than a few seconds
"do you play the lottery?"
yes continues, no gets a "do you know someone that does?"
"great have you/they got the internet?"
no gets them a DVD to take home and watch along with "watch this, it could be the answer to early retirement"
yes gets them a card with "visit this site and watch the movie, it could be the difference between working for someone else and working for yourself"
Simple.
Most MLM companies have a good website, most have a movie, almost all have testimonials. They spend thousands on copywriting, more thousands on design. Let them do the work for you, your job is not to sell the product or a dream, it's your job to get them to the site/movie/seminar. Once that's done, then you can start to talk more about the business because they will actually listen this time.
That means following up, don't make one contact and leave it. Always always always follow up with people you have spoken to. Keep a list of everyone you have talked to, talk to them 6 times a year until they join, move or die.
Be successful.....
